Artist's Comments:
In a number of Native American cultures, the eagle is regarded as flying closest to the Creator and can therefore carry to Him the prayers of the people. In the Hopi culture, the eagle is considered a messenger to carry those prayers to the Sun, which is viewed as the power and symbol of the Creator. The overlaid silver Sunface that I have used was made by Hopi silversmith Mark Tawahongva, shown here.
